Our project at Barracuda Court in Gosport highlighted our commitment to minimising environmental impact while ensuring resident comfort and well-being.

By addressing residual moisture issues with an external negative pressure drying system, we provided a solution that allowed families to remain in their homes without significant disruption.

The Challenge:

Barracuda Court is a residential complex consisting of multiple flats, home to many young families.

Shortly after construction, residents began noticing damp patches on their internal walls. This was particularly concerning as it suggested a persistent moisture problem within the wall cavities.

Our initial investigation revealed that the excess moisture was causing interstitial condensation, where trapped moisture could not evaporate into the ambient air.

The challenges ahead were significant: traditional solutions typically involved extensive demolition and reconstruction, which would generate substantial waste and require the temporary relocation of families. Such disruptions would have considerable emotional and financial impacts on the residents.

Vinci Response was tasked with finding a solution that would remediate the moisture issue while minimising environmental impact.

Our Solution:

To address the moisture problem at Barracuda Court, Vinci Response employed an innovative external negative pressure drying system.

This method involved extracting moisture directly from the wall cavities using specialised equipment placed outside the building.

Here’s how we carried out the work:

  • Installation of the Drying System: Our team installed the negative pressure drying equipment externally, ensuring that the interior of the flats remained untouched. This allowed families to continue living in their homes without the need for relocation.
  • Remote Monitoring: We implemented a remote monitoring system to assess the moisture levels within the walls continuously. This technology ensured that the drying process was effective and allowed our technicians to make real-time adjustments without having to enter the residents’ homes.
  • Minimising Environmental Impact: By avoiding traditional demolition and reconstruction, we significantly reduced material waste and conserved natural resources. The negative pressure drying system targeted the moisture directly, eliminating the need for new construction materials and preventing unnecessary carbon emissions.
  • Ensuring Long-term Sustainability: Our precise method addressed the root cause of the condensation, preventing future moisture problems and extending the lifespan of the building’s materials. This proactive approach reduces the likelihood of future structural issues and the need for additional repairs.
  • Economic Efficiency: The external drying system and remote monitoring minimised disruption and resulted in substantial cost savings. By avoiding the high costs associated with demolition, reconstruction, and temporary relocation, we delivered a financially efficient solution that benefited both the residents and the property owners.

What Our Client Said

“Vinci Response’s approach to the Barracuda Court project was exemplary in its innovation, boldness, and effectiveness.

Tackling interstitial condensation in a newly constructed residential building presented a significant challenge, but the team’s adoption of an external pressure drying system was remarkably effective.

Vinci’s ability to preserve both the structural integrity and the aesthetic appearance of the building while minimising disruption to occupants underscores their commitment to sustainability and customer satisfaction.

Additionally, their strategy saved significant financial resources that would have been spent on relocation and long-term structural repairs, illustrating that sustainable solutions can be economically beneficial.

This project is a testament to how Vinci Response leads with forward-thinking solutions that prioritise efficiency and care, setting new benchmarks in the restoration industry.”
